"Friends are as companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life." - Pythagoras
Injury, and the day to day stressors we all experience have a cumulative effect on the mind/body. Many activities and "modern day" professions put bodies in awkward positions which alter posture over time creating additional stressors on musculature and soft tissues forcing our bodies to compensate around soreness and pain.
The basic philosophy of massage therapy embraces the concept of vis Medicatrix naturae, which is aiding the ability of the body to heal itself.
In my opinion, an effective therapeutic massage therapy session philosophically stops the loud ticking of the clock to allow the client personal time to reflect on a snapshot of their "self" grounded in the moment. To breathe deep, perhaps for the first time since one's first Life's Breath, when it came naturally. During this time of peaceful self reflection an "in tuned" therapist softens knotty/ropey musculature and lengthens soft tissues, encourages movement of stagnant toxins, and lymph circulation aiding in the clients absorption of nutrients and overall feeling of well being and balance.
An effective massage therapy session is an oasis that redirects its client towards homeostasis - a body/mind/spirit balance. It's a bridge that the client consciously has to choose to cross to let go of encumbrances and continue on his or her journey with greater fluidity and ease.
There are many bridges to choose from. Finding the right combination of therapists that work towards assisting you on your journeyis key. I would be honored to be allowed the opportunity to help you on yours.
